Downtown renos to resume, May 6.

Crews are set to resume construction work in downtown Lloydminster on May 6, to partially re-open on June 8 in time for Streetfest.

While the renos will continue after the street festival, the work will see road closures at the intersection of 50 Avenue and 50 Street and 50 Street between 49 Avenue and 50 Avenue.

Work will start at the 50 Avenue and 50 Street Intersection and progress east towards 49 Avenue. Sidewalk and front door business access will remain open at all times.

Project Scope

In 2023, the program replaced and upgraded underground infrastructure throughout the downtown core. Above ground, the renos dealt with the roadway surface and sidewalks. This year benches will be added along with landscaping and other public amenities to bring the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (DARP) to fruition, say city planners.

Work will occur between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sundays.

The Façade Improvement Grant is still open for applications, including temporary relocation assistance, if needed by businesses.

Detour and local traffic-only signs will be placed to indicate how to access businesses while avoiding the construction zone.
