It’s centre stage for Team City of Lloydminster as the mayor and team collect its award for the new Wastewater Treatment Facility at the 17th Annual Saskatchewan Municipal Awards.
The awards committee noted that Lloydminster “created a new multi-jurisdictional, bi-provincial wastewater treatment plant requiring collaboration from leaders in all levels of government.”
The plant had to beat a December 1st deadline or it would have fallen foul of federal law and the city would have faced several penalties. It will be officially opened in spring. Council documents from Dec. 2023 indicate the project was completed for $79.9 million out of the original $81.5 million budget.
