New pagers for Lloydminster fire crews with Cenovus Energy gift

Lloydminster fire crews will be getting new pagers thanks to a $45,000 donation from Cenovus Energy.

The communication upgrade will see paid on-call fire crews getting the Alberta First Responders Radio Communications System (AFRRCS) pagers, says the City of Lloydminster.

“This investment in modern communication technology is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of our emergency responders. With the AFRRCS pagers, our on-call staff will have enhanced communication capabilities, enabling them to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies,” says Fire Chief Aaron Buckingham.

The AFRRCS two-way radio network allows first responders across the province to communicate with each other.

When the new gear is up and running later this year, the legacy radio system will be decommissioned.

The city and the fire department are expressing their gratitude to Cenovus Energy for the gift of new communication gear.
