Mayor praises Councillor Fagnan

“Glenn Fagnan was an incredible individual that had a heart of gold,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers as he spoke following the opening of the new Lloydminster Wastewater Treatment facility.

The late councillor, Rotarian, and pillar of the Lloydminster community passed away on Sunday, June 16 nearing the end of the Ribfest fundraiser for Border City Connects. Fagnan was a sitting councillor who was in his second stint serving the city.

“His involvement in the community – so many items, so many non-profit organizations. So many things had his fingerprints on it, and still do today. And will continue, I hope. He is going to leave a hole in our community, and we really hope that people step up to help support those things that Glenn saw so near and dear to his heart,” said Aalbers.

The mayor spoke on Glenn’s involvement in the heavy lifting to build the wastewater treatment plant noting the community-mindedness and business acumen of his late colleague and friend.

“He said we need to build this. He was alongside myself and the other council members when we went to conventions and had the opportunity to reach out to multiple ministers. Glenn carried his weight and more – taking time to sit down with ministers and share his view of how important this facility would be. It was a team effort, but Glenn played a crucial role,” said Aalbers.

The celebration of life for Councillor Glenn Fagnan is planned for the Lloydminster Exhibition on Tuesday, June 25 at 2 p.m.
