Futsal and Volleyball college conference finals in 2025 will be hosted in the gym at Lakeland College.
The Men’s Volleyball ACAC Conference Championships will take place on Feb. 20-22, 2025, and the Men’s and Women’s Futsal ACAC Conference Championships will be held on Mar. 7-9.
The men’s futsal team has won nine medals in the last 12 years and the women’s program is equally competitive notes Josh Ryan, game day coordinator.
“We believe all three teams will be very competitive and out on a show. We are very excited. It will be a lot of volunteer work for basically four weeks, but we think it will be worth it in the end.”
Head coach of men’s volleyball, Taylor Dyer sees it as another step forward to host the conference championships.
“We had a tremendous season last year. We’re returning just about everybody, so the goals for this group are going to be very high in making sure we earn our spot at conference championships.”
The athletics program will start to crank up in August with the regular volleyball season getting underway in October.
Women’s futsal head coach, Doyle Church says they will play and train like they have not already qualified as they want to be very competitive. The team will begin training in November when the soccer season ends.
“In January we have our first regional qualifier, then in February our second, and then in March we will host the championships.”
Church says the futsal team is looking forward to playing for local fans in their home gym which has regularly played host to basketball and volleyball.
It’s the first since 2018 that the gym will see futsal and the first time as well for volleyball at the conference level. With over six months to go to the two showpieces, six male and female teams will be coming for futsal and eight teams for volleyball.
