It’s getting closer to go time for Kagan Kneen who will run some 1,300 kilometres in August to raise $300,000 for the Men’s Shelter in Lloydminster.
The new executive director is an avid marathon runner and is training for the month-long trek across Alberta and Saskatchewan. The overall capital objective is some $1.2 million with the shelter looking for a new location with 60 beds and transitioning the old 28-bed space into a women’s shelter.
The schedule for the bi-provincial run includes:
August 1: Decoigne to Devona (actually staying at Pocahontas Miette campground)
August 2: Miette Campground to Hinton (actually staying at Cougar Creek Campground)
August 3: Cougar Creek to Hornbeck
August 4: Hornbeck to Niton Junction (staying at Hidden Grove Campground)
August 5: Niton Junction to Entwistle
August 6: Entwistle to Wabamun
August 7: Wabumun to Acheson (staying in Glowing Embers RV Park)
August 8: Acheson to Ardrossan (visiting The Mustard Seed Central and The Mustard Seed Strathcona)
August 9: Ardrossan to Mundare
August 10: Mundare to Ranfurly
August 11: Ranfurly to Vermilion (staying at the provincial park)
August 12: Vermilion to Kitscoty
August 13: Kitscoty to Marshall (running through Lloyd)
August 14: Marshall to Paynton
August 15: Paynton to North Battleford (staying at David Laird Campground)
August 16: North Battleford to Maymont (staying at Glenburn Regional Park)
August 17: Maymont to Langham (Staying at River Valley RV Park)
August 18: Langham to Clavet (touring The Salvation Army Crossroads Residential Services Shelter in Saskatoon)
August 19: Clavet to Viscount
August 20: Viscount to Lanigan (staying at the Lanigan Campground)
August 21: Lanigan to Wynyard (staying at Wynyard Regional Park)
August 22: Wynyard to Foam Lake (staying at Foam Lake Campground)
August 23: Foam Lake to Theodore (staying at Hart Lake RV Park)
August 24: Theodore to Yorkton (staying at Yorkton City Campground)
August 25: Yorkton to Wroxton (running through Yorkton and doing a shelter visit)
