With non-profits and bottle depots teaming up for Jasper relief efforts starting Wednesday, July 31, Lloydminster’s Bea Fisher Bottle Depot is getting ready for donations.
The local recycler says they will set up a donation bag in the customer area for people wishing to donate containers to the province-wide Canadian Red Cross relief effort fundraiser for Jasper, and other affected areas.
Use this link to find your nearest participating bottle depot. Also, you can text the word RADIO (all caps) to 20222, to make a $10 donation.
The move comes as Alberta radio stations including 106.1 The Goat in Lloydminster will be drumming up support for the Alberta Day of Caring for Jasper on Wednesday. The support comes in the wake of the devastation by wildfires that swept through the iconic Canadian town. Since July 24, regional fire crews have been pitching in the tackle the fires that overcame the town’s boundaries on July 24.
The federal and Alberta governments will match every dollar donated by Canadians to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Fires Appeal. This means that every $1 donated will become $3 to support those affected by the wildfires.
More information for you to make your monetary donation is available online.
The province is holding a Telephone Online town hall, tonight (Monday, July 29) for those across the province who have been evacuated. There will be updates on the wildfire situation, and evacuees can ask questions.
