Vermilion RCMP lay charges in robbery with firearm

Vermilion RCMP have laid charges in connection with a firearm complaint.

On September 9, at about 10:56 p.m., police responded to a reportĀ of an armed robbery which occurred at a business located in the area of Railway Avenue.

Police investigators say that the suspect had worn a mask, brandished what appeared to be a firearm, and left with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was identified and arrested shortly after. A search warrant was sought and obtained for a home and items believed to have been used in the robbery were found. The money has not been recovered.

Police have charged 46-year-old Lanny Wayne Fleck of Vermilion with:

  • Robbery with an imitation firearm
  • Wearing aĀ  disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence

Fleck was taken before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody. He is to return to the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion on Sep. 16, 2024.
