Luseland woman to answer charges in Lloydminster over tow truck incident

Kitscoty RCMP, Alberta, are charging a woman from Luseland, Saskatchewan, in the wake of a tow truck incident last year. They also remind motorists to slow to 60 km/h when passing emergency vehicles.

One year ago, on Nov. 28, 2023, Kitscoty RCMP, with help from the Lloydminster RCMP and a collision analyst, responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a tow truck. The tow truck, parked on the side of the roadway with its emergency lights activated, was struck resulting in life-altering injuries to the operator.

The investigation revealed that the tow operator had positioned the tilt deck in a ramp position, when the accused drove up the ramp, striking the operator.

Cheyanne Morgan, a 37-year-old resident of Luseland has been charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited

Cheyanne was served a summons and is to be in the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster on Jan. 14, 2025.

Kitscoty RCMP urge all motorists to remain vigilant and adhere to safety regulations when approaching scenes where emergency lights are active.

“This tragic collision has changed the life of this individual,” said Corporal Brian Weisbrod of Kitscoty RCMP. “This serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the importance of slowing down to 60 km/h when passing tow trucks, emergency vehicles, or road maintenance crews with flashing lights. This simple action can save lives.”
