Lakeland College women’s basketball program is being fined $6,000 as it forfeits 12 games in its premature exit for the 2024-25 season.
The ACAC is confirming the College’s withdrawal of its female basketball team from the league for the remainder of the season. The team will also not defend the national title it won last year.
In meetings on Jan. 17 and 23, the ACAC discussed the College’s application for “Manifest Hardship” and decided to deny the request.
The ACAC says to minimize the impact of the College’s premature exit:
- Results from the team’s games will remain in the league standings
- Any forfeited games will be recorded as 2-0 losses against Lakeland College
- Stats from completed Lakeland College games will remain in place
- Adjustments to start times for Lakeland College Men’s Basketball games will be posted on the ACAC website.
