Some Lloydminster high school students are bringing back some heavy metal including gold as they punch their ticket to provincials at Skills Canada in Edmonton.
From Lloydminster Comprehensive, its three gold medals for:
- Emmett Sherbinin – Electrical
- Tye Graham – Auto
- Sophie Graham – Junior hairstyling/braiding
Silver winners:
- William Decker – Electrical
- Nixin Schwenk – Baking
- Ashton Kluk and Jackson Walker – Video
Bronze medals:
- Ben Vineham – Electrical
- Cooper Sissons – Auto
- Sophie Graham- Intermediate hairstyling/Bridal
- Manahil Mehmood- Junior hairstyling/braiding
- Natalie Rutherford – Cabinet Making
- Mason Byford – Carpentry
- Kenzie Wheaton – Culinary Arts

At Holy Rosary, students delivered five gold medals in:
- Kaden Jameson – Carpentry
- Ciara Robinson – Baking
- Issac Jurke – Welding
- Davin Bajema – Video Production
- Luke Light – Video Production

The gold and silver medalists will move on to compete at Provincials in Edmonton on May 7-8 at the Edmonton Expo.
They will be joined by qualifiers from Lakeland College who apply online for entry to compete.
The College students will represent in Automobile Technology, Carpentry, Electrical Installations, Hairstyling, Heavy Vehicle Technology and Welding.
The national Skills Canada finale is May 29-30 at the Regina Exhibition.
