The big aerial ladder truck is heading for re-certification but the Lloydminster Fire Department is staying on top thanks to a temporary unit from Cenovus Energy.
Council in February approved $450,000 excluding GST for the maintenance work. When the parts arrive, the truck will be sent to Rocky Mountain Phoenix in Red Deer. The whole process could take three to six months.
“Community safety is our top priority, and our emergency responses must remain uninterrupted during Tower 18’s recertification. A sincere thank you to Cenovus for providing a temporary apparatus, allowing us to maintain service at full capacity. This collaboration helps us stay fully prepared to protect and serve the community, and we appreciate Cenovus’ commitment to public safety,” said Bill Heesing, Fire Chief, Lloydminster Fire Department.
Cenovus is allowing local fire crews to use its T-Rex aerial ladder truck, so the Lloydminster Fire Department won’t be without its aerial lift.
“At Cenovus, we recognize the vital role community resiliency plays in safeguarding the well-being of our neighbours. By lending our aerial unit to the Lloydminster Fire Department, we’re supporting our mutual aid partner while reaffirming our commitment to being a responsible and proactive community member,” said Heather Sazdov, Vice-President, Canadian Downstream Manufacturing, Cenovus.
