Premiers, energy ministers head to CERAWeek in Texas

Described as the Superbowl of energy meetings, CERAWeek in Houston, Texas is attracting key stakeholders including from Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Premiers Danielle Smith, Scott Moe and energy misters Brian Jean of Alberta and Colleen Young from Saskatchewan are making the case for Canadian energy.

“Our province consistently ranks at the top of the pack for North American investment attractiveness in the energy and mining sectors, and is number-one in Canada,” Young said. “I encourage investors to consider banking on Saskatchewan and its many energy sector opportunities.”

Both provinces are stressing their leadership in responsible energy development, sustainability, and innovation.

“As a key energy partner to the United States, we are strengthening our integrated supply chains and emphasizing the long-term reliability of our energy sector across North America. CERAWeek provides a critical opportunity to reinforce the province’s reputation as a stable and reliable partner in energy, responsible resource development, and sustainability with investors and industry leaders from across the world,” said Premier Scott Moe.

Moe will speak in the breakout session The Giant of the North: Canada’s Energy Future on March 11.

Premier Danielle Smith said she will be making it “clear that Alberta is a critical partner in securing energy dominance for North America.”

Smith and Energy Minister Brian Jean will participate in panel discussions and speaking engagements during the conference.

“When it comes to achieving long-term energy security, Alberta is the answer. We intend to showcase that at this year’s CERAWeek conference and strengthen relationships with industry and other jurisdictions to help us work together and build a low-carbon energy future,” said Jean.

The theme of the conference is Moving Ahead: Energy Strategies for a Complex World.

The delegations are expected to return home on Thursday evening (Mar. 13).
