Bad batch more potent

Prairie Harm Reduction says the bad batch of fentanyl circulating in Saskatoon and on the Prairies has 15 per cent more fentanyl than when they first tested.

Saskatoon has seen over 200 drug-related overdoses in the last two weeks and concern remains that the bad batch could make its way to Lloydminster.

According to the social media post, the bad batch is dark purple or brown. The test done on March 11 shows that the batch was 30 per cent fentanyl which was 15 per cent higher than the last sample.

PHR has an FTIR spectroscopy which allows testing with real-time results.

The non-profit advised that naloxone is no longer working in all cases.

Media reports, say Saskatoon first responders are facing burnout as they try to keep up with the calls for service.
