Silver finish for Lloydminster Minor Hockey teams

Lloydminster hockey teams have a few silver medals to show after the first weekend of Alberta provincial contests.

Among the girls, the Lloydminster Richardson’s Jewellery U15AA Jr Steelers played their hearts out in the final, going down 2-7 against the Red Deer Chiefs.

The boys U15 AA Blazers also had it tough to earn a silver finish 3-6 versus the Calgary Hawks.

The girls U13 581 Blazers also made it to the provincial final and came away with the silver medal in a 2-5 contest versus the Leduc Roughnecks who took the gold.

Another team representing local minor hockey at Provincials was the U13 511 Blazers who had a challenging assignment in Vegreville.

On the awards front, Head Coach Tyler Dougan with the U15AA Steelers is the Alberta Female Hockey League Coach of the Year.

The Lloydminster Minor Hockey Association (LMHA) is saluting the work of its teams this season in reaching provincials.

“[They] all showcased incredible talent and determination throughout the tournament. On behalf of LMHA, I want to congratulate all of our teams on a successful season. Your achievements are a true testament to your skills and commitment to the sport. Thank you for representing our association with pride and passion,” said Dan Auchenberg, GM, LMHA.

Teams heading to provincials this weekend:

  • Team 582 U13 A Blazers Female – Stettler – Mar. 27-30
  • U15 A Blazers Female – Blindman Valley, Rimbey – Mar. 27-30
  • U13 AA Steelers Female – Father David Bauer, Calgary – Mar. 27-30
