Skies the limit for Lloydminster area farmers

Lloydminster area farmers have a local option for aerial spraying with the launch of Bradley Air.

Named in honour of their business partner and friend, Brad Wright, Cortney and Garth George are hitching their wagon to an aerial spraying operation based at the Lloydminster Airport.

“Brad and Garth started spraying together a couple years ago.  They’ve been friends for a long time. Brad, tragically passed last year,” says Cortney George, operations manager for the new company.

Bradley Air has top of the line gear to provide accurate field mapping in getting the job done.

“They are air tractors. 502-XP is the model. As far as the GPS goes, we also have field mapping in house which allows us to do a more accurate job. We can identify any obstacles that the pilots might be watching out for because they are going at very high speeds at low altitudes,” says Cortney, who adds it’s nice for the farmers to know what areas they have had sprayed.

The Bradley Air fleet has two planes and the range of applications cover foliar fertilizer, fungicide, insecticide and desiccation.

For the local ag sector, having an aerial applicator based at the Lloydminster Airport is a better option than sourcing aerial spraying from outside the region.

“It will be nice for farmers to use us knowing that we are locally owned, we are here to stay, and you don’t have to hire from farther away, because timing is of the essence in farming,” says Cortney.

Bradley Air can be reached at 780-205-7767.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
