The Lloydminster RCMP has arrested a man and laid firearms charges, as part of an investigation that began in January of this year.
On February 26th, officers executed search warrants at two homes in connection with this investigation. At both, the RCMP alleges, unsafely stored guns and ammo were found. One person connected with the homes had a warrant issued for his arrest on that day. That suspect was eventually arrested on March 30th.
That man, 37 year old Nathan O’Brien, is facing several charges. He’s been accused of alleged firearms trafficking, three counts of careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm at unlawful location, possession of restricted firearm together with readily available ammunition and failing to report a restricted firearm lost or stolen.
Nathan O’Brien was remanded into custody and was released from custody on a release order by a Judge on March 31st. However, O’Brien allegedly failed to abide by his release conditions, and as such, he remains in custody until April 14th, his next court date.
