Lloydminster hockey teams heading to provincials

There are several Lloydminster hockey teams heading to provincials this year. The list includes:

  • U15 AA Blazers – Calgary – Mar. 28-30
  • U15 Team Blazers 642 (NBC) – Jasper – Mar. 20-23
  • U15AA Female Steelers – Lloydminster – Mar. 20-23
  • Team 581 U13 B Blazers Female  – Sexsmith – Mar. 20-23
  • Team 582 U13 A Blazers Female – Stettler – Mar. 27-30
  • U15 A Blazers Female – Blindman Valley, Rimbey – Mar. 27-30
  • U13 Teir 1 Blazers – Vegreville – Mar. 20-23

Richard Mack, assistant coach with the U13 Tier 1 Blazers says the team will maintain their intensity with practices leading up to the provincial spotlight.

“The boys have practice Tuesday, Thursday this week and then Tuesday, Thursday next week. We will be working on what we have practicing all year. Hoping we can pump these kids up for the weekend. It’s going to be a good experience for the kids.”

Parents and fans of all the teams are super excited for the players.

Head coach, Drew Hawthorne with the U15 Lloydminster Blazers said they will continue to build on the skill set of the kids as they prepare for the provincial battle.

“We will continue to work on the systems that we have put in place for the year. It’s keeping them so that they are on their skates and moving. And not getting rusty going over the next two weeks.”

Hawthorne saluted the management and coaching staff as the team moves forward to the next level.

Some more teams from around the region who are in the winners circle are U13 Tier 3 Hughenden Jets, U13 Tier 6 Onion Lake Border Chiefs, U15 Tier 1 Kitscoty Knights, and U15 Tier 3 Irma Aces.
